Track Pad DiagramThe following is a diagram drawing of a Powerbook trackpad using border tape to make a voided space between the tapping and scroll zones for the SideTrack software program at Raging Menace. The reason for supplying this diagram came about from a forum discussion at http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?s=7f2cf50b40174593e3b95ce9ea2d60ba&threadid=243683 to prevent SideTrack accidental function actions. After many attempts with various materials, I found using narrow strips of tape to create a voided border worked the best.
WARNING!: Before you start putting different types of tape on your trackpad, you should consider it may leave marks or cause irreversible damage when you go to remove
it. As for what kind of border tape to use, I'm not sure, but I'm currently using 1/8 inch layout border tape from a drafting store, and it seems to come off without leaving marks. I also consider and decided not to use auto pin striping tape, because of the difficulties removing it.
Although, the diagram shows this method for a typical Left handed use, it can easily be done right handed by flipping the diagram horizontally.
So far I have only tried conductive tape. I believe non-conductive tape may cause problems after the tape is removed. Anyway, if non-conductive tape can be used
safely I'll post the information at http://www.macnn.com . Robert Stack
